News and Notes from the Greenwood Reading Center

Hello Friends! Goodness, those April showers have meant business from the get-go, haven’t they? Rest assured that the Greenwood Reading Center is currently unaffected by flooding. Our roof held up like a champ and everything is dry as a bone, here! We are in celebration mode and have decided how best to proceed with using the empty bookcase under the former leak. We’re going to rearrange the entire Adult Fiction collection, by category! Looking for specific spine labels will be a whole lot easier, once we’re done. However, please excuse the disorder in the meantime; it’s a big job!

The GRC Coffee Bar kicked off with a bang! We are excited by the response. Ironically, coffee is our least-popular beverage. Hot cocoa and herbal teas in varying flavors seem to be the most popular, although plenty of coffee was poured as well. We promise to keep everything in stock, along with all of the fun things used to dress up regular (or decaf) coffee; flavored syrups, cream and creamer, and three kinds of sweeteners are clustered next to our goodie jar. Conversation has been in no short supply; and in furtherance of that conversation, our first Coffee House Guest will be joining us on Monday, April 13. Nicole Walker, a Program Coordinator for NY Connects will be joining us from the Office for the Aging to answer questions and discuss various topics of local importance. If you are a senior citizen or caring for aging parents, please feel free to join us, even if you aren’t a resident of the C-G school district!

Upcoming events: GRC Coffee Bar presents: Nicole Walker on April 13 from 5:00-7:00pm, the Board of Trustees meets at the Community of Christ Church on April 9 at 2:00pm. The April Mystery Meal, A Kaleidoscope of Color will also be at the Community of Christ Church on April 23 at noon. The I’m Your Neighbor rotating collection will be available to check out beginning on May 4, including the first Story Walk of the year!
