Hello from the new building! Have you noticed a popup pavilion in front of our soon-to-be library building on Tuesdays or Thursdays? We have Drive-up Library hours from 2 until 4. Pop in to choose a book from the selection on the table, catch up with us, and have a snack or a cup of your favorite hot beverage from the new Keurig coffee maker. Many thanks to the Whitesville Public Library for loaning us their easy-up. We’ll keep going until the weather makes us quit. We miss our patrons!
Even though it doesn’t look like much is going on with our shabby old lady, we’re working behind the scenes on small projects for now. So far, we’ve turned on the lights and heat, created our plan of action, started the bathroom, reinforced the floor, and started gathering materials. If you have leftover materials from a recent building project, please let us know! So far, friends and patrons have donated quite a few necessary items, but the need is great. Eventually, the building will become what she was always meant to be. (Please don’t tell her I called her ‘shabby.’)
If you went by the old library building and the Greenwood History Museum on October 10, you might have seen us in our rocking chairs, asking for donations. Our Rockathon raised nearly a thousand dollars for our renovations. Thank you to our generous patrons, the Greenwood Historical Society, and especially our extra-special volunteers. Without you, this wouldn’t have been the success that it was- or as fun. Thank you!
We are hoping to be able to reopen early in the new year. More details and updates as they come; lots of things are in the works. In the meantime, happy reading!
