News and Notes from the Greenwood Reading Center

LibraryWise: News and Notes from the Greenwood Reading Center

Howdy, Friends! Here at the library, we’ve been reflecting on changes and transitions; friends who pass on, new little ones arriving. June is a month of transition, so it’s kind of a good time for it. Spring transitions into summer, the school year gives way to two whole months of the childhood freedom that is summer vacation, and this year, heating season is finally transitioning into cooling. If you’ve been in to see us lately, you’ve seen some of the transitions we’ve been experiencing as well. Our Large Print collection is gathered together to make it easier to find the books you want to read, and our front bookcase has transitioned from ‘last chance’ books to community resources and summer learning information.

There’s only two weeks until we start the School’s Out, Summer Celebration with two weeks of Nintendo gaming! Mrs. Mullen is excited about Minecraft, and really wants to play Super Smash Bros again!

Which dinosaur works the hardest at whatever it wants to do? The try-ceratops! Speaking of working hard, we’re getting ready for our elementary-aged friends to come and Unearth a Story for the Summer Learning Program. Every Saturday from July 11 until August 15, we’ll meet at the library from 11am until 2pm for a story, lunch, activity, and craft. If your elementary-aged student has a younger sibling, let us know so we can try to accommodate them, too!

Our next Mystery Meal will be on June 25, and our theme will be America the Beautiful, in honor of both Flag Day (June 14) and our nation’s 250th anniversary on July 4. We will be working on the community time capsule. If you would like ideas for what to include for the future to see in 2076, please stop in; we have a whole folder with ideas. Want to write a message for the future? Come see us!
