News and Notes from the Greenwood Reading Center

Good March afternoon! Goodness, but February was a busy month! If you missed last week’s Mystery Meal, we are truly sorry you missed out on the tropical vibes. Between the Hawaiian shirts, the tropical desserts, and décor, one could almost imagine warm, sea air outside. We debuted Book Bingo, which was very much fun for all. This month, our Mystery Meal will be on the 26th at noon, as usual, with the theme Think Spring! We won’t be playing Book Bingo this month, but there are other, fun things planned that you won’t want to miss.

In case you missed the Presidents’ Days Video Game Tournament, it was nonstop fun from open ‘til close, the entire week from the 16th until the 20th. Snacks were eaten, and Mrs. Mullen showed that she ‘had game’ at Super Smash Bros. The participants decided early on that they’d rather play and just have fun, so no one got ‘eliminated’ at all. Everyone was on their best behavior, so much so that cleanup was minimal. It was actually a rather impressive show of sportsmanship and good manners all around. Well done, Gamers! Mrs. Mullen has decided that, as soon as we are able, the reading center will be adding a gaming console to the big television permanently.

Automation update: the barcodes are on order and should arrive in just a few weeks! We are very excited to be able to offer our patrons this convenience, as well as access to STLS services. Want to see what STLS offers? Check out the display in the foyer!

Speaking of the foyer, we’ve added a community bulletin board! Everyone is welcome to post notices and happenings from yard sales and curbside alerts to local events and whatever else needs public attention. We just ask that you use tape to post things, and abide by our community guidelines with regard to language.

On Thursday, March 12, we will be holding our next board meeting at 2:00pm here at the Reading Center. Everyone is welcome, as always.
